Red Plate Index is a small independent project. Each month it turns public food safety records into a dated scorecard that anyone can cite.

Inspection and recall data are public but hard to use. They are spread across city portals and federal APIs, each with its own codes. We pull them every day, compute the same metrics the same way each month, and publish the results with their sources.
