Accessibility
We want everyone to be able to read and use the Red Plate Index, including people who use screen readers, keyboard navigation, magnification or high-contrast settings.
Our target
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, level AA.
What we do
- Semantic HTML: one heading structure per page, real tables with headers, and charts that are tables with text values.
- A “skip to content” link and visible keyboard focus outlines.
- Text and button colours chosen for at least 4.5:1 contrast.
- Labelled form fields and no content that depends on colour alone.
- Automated checks with axe-core on every release, plus manual keyboard checks.
Known limitations
- Some wide data tables scroll horizontally on small screens.
- The newsletter signup form is a placeholder and is disabled until signup opens.
